Nendoroid Saber Lily d(ˆ⌂ˆ)b

My long awaited Nendoroid Saber Lily arrives at my doorstep from HobbySearch! To celebrate the occasion I decide to write a small review about this awesome Nendoroid by Good Smile Company.  This isn’t my first Nendoroid purchase as you will see in some photos later on, but this has got to be my favorite ones so far…

Packaging

Box Front

The box came in through the mail in pristine condition, no dings or scratches, and it’s the standard Nendoroid packaging which gives you a nice sneak peek at what the figure looks like.

Box Back

The back of the box features Saber Lily in a variety of poses holding the different accessories.

Package Contents

The Nendoroid Saber Lily comes with the base figure itself, pretty sweet.  Two swords for Saber Lily to look cool.  Two cool looking scabbards to put the cool looking swords in when Saber Lily needs a break from swinging them around.  Two extra faces, one looking slightly happier than the original and one slightly more annoyed looking.  One bent left leg for a little more dynamic flare in the posing possibilites.  Two extra hands with holes, so Saber Lily can hold more than one cool looking sword I suppose.  Three extra arms which are slightly different from each other (one of them has a little peg where you can fit the scabbard on).  Lastly, a clear base so Saber Lily can stand upright.

Figure Shots

Nendoroid Saber Lily Front

The figure itself is nicely detailed, I think out of all the ones I have, this is the most detailed one so far.  My intial reaction when I first saw the images of her on the net, I was mesmerized by the armor.  I like things with detail and this was one of the main factors for pre-ordering it right away.  I’ll admit, I only know Saber from Fate/Stay Night, so I don’t really follow the series that much so my knowledge of Saber Lily is quite low.  As a collector though, I couldn’t pass up this Nendoroid because… just look at her, she looks awesome!

Nendoroid Saber Lily Left

This Nendoroid comes with a new base I have never seen before and it seems to be made specifically for Saber Lily.  Instead of the previous giant awful waist clamps, you get a single piece that fits snuggly under her armor/dress and is securely held with grooves that the legs fit in.  As you can see from the side, the feet isn’t planted on the ground, so she’s in a constant tippy toe.  I really don’t mind because of how stable it is with the new base.

Nendoroid Saber Lily Back

With the new base, even the back is clearly visible now, A+ to the person who came up with the base!

Nendoroid Saber Lily Face 2

I really like this Nendoroid, it’s got lots of great detail in the armor and accessories.  It’s got quite a few accessories as well including arm and hand options.  Most importantly though has to be the base support. I don’t usually like having clunky ugly bases on any of my figures, but the one that Saber Lily sits on is quite special.  It’s strong, small, and not intrusive to the figure itself which is a big plus.

Nendoroid Saber Lily Face 3

So it seems I really like this figure…a lot.  Nendoroid Saber Lily does have its flaws.  Most of the time, the different expressions that come with a Nendoroid are quite different from each other. Saber Lily’s extra expressions are quite subtle and not very noticable until you really look at it.  The base, as much praising as I did, also has a flaw.  The pre-defined leg grooves on the support is very limiting to the poses you can do.  The support really gets in the way of the bent leg and makes posing using that leg really limiting.

The bent leg makes the pose tilt… though it sorta works in this picture.

Notes

Nendoroid Saber Lily Pose 2

This is a great addition to anyone’s colleciton, especially collectors of Nendoroids. The prices are fair (general price range for all Nendoroids) and they seem to be going quite fast.

HobbySearch @ 3,167Yen

Hobby Link Japan @ 3,333Yen (Discontinued already!?)

e2046 @ $40.98USD

KidNemoCompany @ $52.19USD

Nendoroid Saber Lily Group 1

Welcome to the family Saber Lily!

Score

4 out of 5 – This figure has its qualities and flaws, but the flaws are only minor and has nothing to do with the quality of the figure itself.  I still can’t get my mind off the new base support…

congratulations on starting your blog! And it’s a great way to start it too!

Nice shots of your Saber Lily! I really like the pouty face the most. So cute! Poor Konata has been cropped in both pictures! ^_^

I wonder how my nendoroids will welcome Saber Lily when she arrives… ^^

Thanks for the compliments, I really like the pouting face the most as well.

Kontata has been cropped because that’s just because there was not enough space for her to be in the shot. Though it does give the picture a little more mystery.

I suggest your Nendoroids plan for the arrival of Saber Lily soon because it’s most likely arriving at your doorstep! \(^_^)/

    Hmm I just realized after reading your review that she IS one of the most detailed Nendoroid around. I only think of her as another Saber really ^^;

FYI, Saber Lily isn’t really from the original series. She’s from the game Fate/Unlimited Codes. So she’s only appeared in game form so far. She’s only a variant costume in the game too without any storyline -.-

Thanks for the info on Saber Lily, I’ll have to check out that Fate/Unlimited Codes game sometime (^_^)…

If you have a PSP, the game is downloadable from the PS store. 🙂

It looks alright, use your own discretion, but I do tend to advise people not to use eBay unless they really have to. Also if using eBay as a last resort, avoid sellers from China. Though the seller locations don’t make much difference nowadays. I tried buying something from a seller in Australia, but ended up the package was sent from Hong Kong.

At the time of this message, it looks like KidNemo has it cheaper in stock (added a link to the rest of the links above). It’s an okay store, but it certainly is more assuring than buying from eBay. Hope this helps! (^_^)
